Miele Professional Heat Pump Technology was short listed for its
sustainable credentials and overall design merits.
Heat Pump technology offers running costs that are typically up to 60% lower than with a conventional Miele condenser tumble dryer.
Miele’s Heat Pump dryer is extremely quiet and returns negligible amounts of condensate back into the room, making it ideal for use in a ‘working’ laundry environment.
The combination of lower energy input, reduced operational consumption “wastage,” Miele manufacturing quality, and extended design life ensure the impact of a Heat Pump dryer upon the environment and natural resources is lower than any comparable traditional tumble drying solution.

Heat Pump dryers use a unique closed circuit system with a heat pump to rapidly cool the
hot air as it leaves the drum. As the air is cooled, the moisture that has been removed from
the cycle and pumped to waste. This air is then quickly and efficiently reheated and passed
back through the drum to continue the drying process.
The process operates at lower temperatures than a traditional dryer supporting reduced
fabric ware and a gentler process.
The closed circuit design of the system ensures no vent to atmosphere is required with
much of the process heat being conserved within the cycle, hence the impressive efficiency
statistics; furthermore there is not the reliance upon the surrounding room’s atmosphere to
deliver the cooling air as is the case with a tradtional condesner dryer, eliminating common
room ventilation problems that plague condenser installations.
Finally a traditional condenser tumble dryer expels a considerable amount of heat into the
laundry room when it is being operated; this can be a problem both for the comfort of the
operator and the prolonged operational reliability of the appliance. A Heat Pump dryer
reduces this heat output by almost 60%, bringing the process more in line with a traditional
vented dryer.
